Bay golly, pics are fin-tastic...

- BY AENGUS O’HANLON

A PHOTOGRAPHY contest for snappers to share pictures of Dublin Bay’s diverse inhabitants has offered up spectacular results.

Snaps taken as far back as the 1980s emerged, right up to the present day, of lobster, seals, jellyfish and anemones.

Dublin Bay Biosphere Partnership and the Irish Underwater Council ran the contest to raise public awareness of the Unesco-recognised area – and were “blown away” by the standard.

The DBBP’S Leslie Moore said: “We were very impressed with the very high standards the underwater photographers have produced.”

The winners included Nigel Motyer for Best Photograph of a Crustacean for ‘Oldest Lobster In The Bay’ and Best Photograph of a Sponge for ‘Sunlit Jelly’, and Andrew Keegan for Best Photograph of Spotted In Dublin Bay for ‘BYOB Dalkey Sound’.
