Free EU travel is a rail boost for Irish teens

-

TEENAGERS have been given the chance to Interrail across Europe this summer for free.

EU citizens who turn 18 before July can apply for the 30-day passes worth hundreds of Euro.

A Brussels pilot scheme will provide a total of 15,000 Discovereu Passes after a €12million windfall.

German MEP Manfred Weber said: “Getting to know your neighbours and discovering what Europe is about is so important.

“That’s why Interrail is great.”

Around 140 tickets have been allocated to Ireland.
