Bale helps spine girl to walk taller
FOOTBALL superstar Gareth Bale has helped a teenage girl grow an inchand-a-half taller.
Kit donated by the Real Madrid ace and Wales rugby legend Sam Warburton raised money towards a £42,000 spine straightening operation for Erin Morgan-ring, 14.
Scoliosis sufferer Erin, who had a 65 degree curve in her back before surgery in Germany, now stands at 5ft 1.5in instead of 5ft.
The runner and gymnast joked: “I used to be shorter than many friends, now I tower over them.”
Her mum Ceri Morgan, of Heath, Cardiff, now hopes the vertebral body tethering op will be made available on the NHS.
Ceri said: “It was hard seeing her in tears before the operation but the day after she was standing and walking the day after that.”
She added: “It was the right thing to do.”
