PAY DAY FOR JT

- BY JOHN RICHARDSON

JOHN TERRY is in line for a new contract and big pay rise if Aston Villa win promotion to the Premier League. The former Chelsea captain agreed to take a large hit on his Stamford Bridge wages to move to Villa last summer on a free transfer. But it came with an agreement that a more lucrative 12-month deal would be the reward for helping Steve Bruce’s side return to the big time. Even at the age of 37 it’s believed that the ex-england captain is still raring to play back in the top flight – and that includes facing his beloved Chelsea. Villa are guaranteed a place in the play-offs, and Terry (below) said: “I still have the appetite and hunger for sure. This football club deserves to be in the Premier League.” He has made 33 appearances for Villa, who look upon him as a potential managerial successor to Steve Bruce. They would be delighted to tie him up for another year, and know Chelsea are keen to offer JT a coaching post when he hangs up his boots.
