TIERNEY STILL CONTENT BUT MONEY TALKS!

-

KIERAN TIERNEY claims he’s flattered by the attention he’s getting from England’s top flight – but insists he still wants to see out his six-year Celtic deal.

However boss Brendan Rodgers warned his player and the fans that the right offer could yet sway him.

Bournemouth became the latest in a lengthy list of EPL clubs tailing the Scotland full-back.

But as the 20-year-old celebrated his unveiling as the Scottish Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year - his third in a row - reckons he still can’t get enough of life at the Hoops.

Tierney (above) said: “It’s happened during most windows since I broke through – it’s good for me. If somebody wants to buy you that means you’re doing something right. When big teams are looking at you it’s flattering.

“It doesn’t bother me or distract me because I’m enjoying myself. I’m playing for Celtic so I’m happy.

Realist Rodgers knows that sounds great in theory - but it’s yet to be put to the test by a club dangling a massive wage hike in front of there player or a massive fee in front of chief executive Peter Lawwell.

And he refused to hang a “not for sale” sign around his left back’s neck.

The manager said: “I don’t want to say either/or, really. The time when players were not for sale are long gone.

“The kid’s signed a long-term deal. But there’s also a moral aspect to it, where if a player is on X amount of money and he’s offered 5 times by someone else and the club also has a big offer then it’s something that will be spoken about.”
