CONTE’S JUST SO WRONG
I’M not a person for regrets, but I do harbour some big ones – and resentment – about missing out on the squad for the Champions League final in 2007.
All those memories came pouring back for me on Wednesday night when Liverpool repeated the feat of our team 11 years ago and got to the final. I was so overjoyed for them.
I am even happier for them now, because of all that rubbish from Antonio Conte (below) about lucky teams winning being able to win the Champions League. You can’t fluke your way into the final of the world’s toughest knockout competition.
Jurgen Klopp will tell his team how Conte has disrespected them, how he’s taunting them. Managers know how to wind up their players.
He will be telling his side to go out and prove they are a better team than Chelsea, which, if we are being honest, they are, because the table doesn’t lie either.
Liverpool have been a FAR better team than Chelsea this season because they are a proper team, whereas Conte’s side have been a bit of a rag-tag bunch of talented individuals.

He has been in two finals before and not won – and I did have a feeling this would be third time lucky.
It wasn’t meant to be, but he deserves to get the most amazing send-off at the Emirates today, in his final game as manager.
He should be given an incredible day – and I am confident he will get it.
