660 litres of French wine worth €10k seized at port
REVENUE officers have seized more than 660 litres of smuggled wine at Dublin Port.
The haul – with an estimated retail value of €10,000 – originated in France.
The cargo was discovered when Revenue officials stopped and searched a van that had recently arrived into the country via Holyhead.
It is understood the smuggled goods represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €5,600.
The driver of the van was questioned by officials and investigations are ongoing.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of alcohol in the so-called shadow economy.
