Gardai probe cause of girls school blaze

-

GARDAI are investigating a “serious” fire that broke out at a school.

A blaze started in the early hours of yesterday at St Louis Secondary in Dundalk, Co Louth.

Several fire brigades rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised at around 3am.

No one was injured at the all-girls school.

It is not yet known if the premises will be open tomorrow but parents will be updated via text.

Louth TD Gerry Adams has described the news as “extremely troubling”.

He said: “This is exam time so I hope that damage is not too extensive and that pupils can return to school as soon as possible.”
