Singer’s loving life with Olivia and Archie
DANIEL O’donnell has said he’s “thrilled” to be a grandfather to Olivia and Archie despite not having children of his own.
The 56-year-old, back on TV this week with Daniel & Majella’s B&B Road Trip, opened his heart about gaining a family when he married Majella.
The Donegal singer said: “Grandad Daniel sounds really cool. It’s brilliant having such a great family.
“I was brought up in a great family, so I have always liked the whole family spirit thing.
“When I married Majella, I gained a family because she already had children.
“I probably didn’t realise how wonderful a gift that was.
“Now I have grandchildren because of our marriage and I could not be more thrilled or more happy. We did try for a baby of our own but it wasn’t meant to be. “But Majella’s children have become our children anyway and I am very happy about that. “So perhaps it was for the best and now we have grandchildren it has all turned out really well. “They are great to be with and I consider myself to be very lucky to have them. Olivia is nearly two now and Archie is just a lovely little baby.” Daniel, who has a packed diary of concerts, recordings and shows, told the Glasgow Post: “Sometimes I wonder if I ought to retire but that’s not going to happen. Life is just great at the moment.” Daniel & Majella’s B&B Road Trip is on RTE One at 8.30pm on Tuesday.
But fans were quick to forgive him and now he’s revealed his joy at gaining a ready-made family.
No wonder he’s the granddaddy of them all...
