Fray Bentos scrap ‘tough to open’ tins
Fray Bentos FRAY BENTOS are redesigning their famous pie tins because young people can’t open them.
Millennials have complained it is impossible to pierce them with normal can openers.
So they have tried hammers, chisels, screwdrivers and knives – and posted videos online.
One student said: “This thing does not open. It is official.
“After three years of having this pie under my bed in my emergency food box it’s going in the bin.”
Fray Bentos steak and kidney pies launched in 1961. Owner Baxters said: “Whilst we continue to review the design of our can, we would strongly advise our consumers to use a robust can opener.”
