MULLINS CAN DOMINATE

-

WILLIE MULLINS is definitely the man to follow on the opening day of Killarney’s May Festival, where the champion trainer has live prospects of a four-timer.

The classy mare True Self can head a good day for Mullins (right) by landing the Redweld Stables Handicap Hurdle.

She produced her best effort to date since going hurdling when she landed a valuable two-mile handicap at Punchestown last month. She is 8lb higher as a result of that triumph, but that shouldn’t prevent her from winning again.

Another Mullins mare, Pravalaguna, is a confident choice to make a winning start over fences in the beginners’ chase.

She was a very smart sort over hurdles and produced one of her best performances when landing a conditions hurdle at Punchestown 10 days ago. In the Listed Killarney Oils Mares’ Hurdle, Stormy Ireland is sure be popular, but she has failed to complete on her last two outings and Lagostovegas looks a good alternative. Slaney Street will take plenty of beating in the opener, while Edelpour takes his chance in the second of the maiden hurdles and he looks a class apart.
