TOUGH CLIMAX AT KOP

IT’S madness that Liverpool still need a point on the final day of the season to finish in the top four!

The way Jurgen Klopp’s (below) team have played this season, it should have been sewn up a long time ago – and Chelsea wouldn’t still be thinking they have an outside chance of stealing it from them.

It would be grand larceny if they did, given that Liverpool have been outside the top four for about three weeks all season.

Yet it shows how tough it is to balance a Champions League run with consistency in the Premier League. No one has been able to do that in recent years, not even Manchester City.

In fact, it looks a difficult ask right across Europe now.

Real Madrid have been poor by their standards in La Liga, but have been strong for the most part in reaching the Champions League Final.

I hope – purely for the fact Liverpool deserve reward for the courage of the football they have played this season – they get the point they need today and can go to Kiev with the confidence and calm that will bring.
