Spit pundit sees ‘mind mechanic’ who helped snooker ace Ronnie
SHAMED Jamie Carragher is having anger management sessions with a renowned sports psychologist.
The soccer pundit – suspended by Sky Sports after being filmed spitting at a fan – has turned to Dr Steve Peters, credited with helping snooker ace Ronnie O’sullivan battle his demons. Known as the “mind mechanic”, he has worked with players at ex-england star Carragher’s old club Liverpool, to change their mindset in the run-up to big games. Carragher, 40, said yesterday: “I have been to see Steve a couple of times already. I needed to sort some things out because I obviously regret what happened.”
The former defender was said to be on more than a €1million a year when he was suspended by Sky Sports after spitting at a teenage girl in a car after her dad teased him over Liverpool losing to arch rivals Manchester United in March. Carragher, who played for England 38 times, issued a public apology. A pal said: “Jamie bitterly regrets the spitting incident. He’s a nice guy really.” Sky has not decided his future yet and he is working for a Danish TV station.
