BEST OF THE REST
HAYLEY TURNER enjoyed the biggest win in her comeback from retirement when driving Ripp Orf to a narrow call in the Victoria Cup at Ascot.
Turner quit the saddle in November 2015 but last summer announced her intention to use the female riders’ allowance with a return in France.
Now committed to competing in Britain – while also working as an ITV Racing pundit – Turner scored on the David Elsworth-trained 20-1 shot, who beat top weight Zhui Feng by a neck.
“He did it really easily in the end,” she said. “I wonder if there’s a race at Royal Ascot now!”
Harry Dunlop’s Knight To Behold earned a 16-1 for the Investec Derby in 20 days’ time after making the running in the Betfred Derby Trial at Lingfield Park. The Betfred Mobile Oaks Trial went to the Clive Cox-trained Perfect Clarity.
