Harris must help all our citizens

LAST weekend Simon Harris was being hailed as a hero in the wake of the referendum result but now it seems normal service has resumed.

They say a week is a long time in politics and there’s little doubt the Health Minister would agree with that right about now.

While his stance on Repeal was met with approval his much-quoted speech at the count centre has come back to haunt him.

Harris said rather than telling women to “take the boat” we could now say “take our hand” as a progressive and compassionate Ireland is born.

Parents whose children need life-saving surgery abroad are demanding the same level of support for their kids. And why shouldn’t they?

Minister Harris should keep trying to do his damnedest for all our citizens.
