Musician, 89, dies after he falls into fire
A TOP accordion player has died in hospital after suffering severe burns in an accident at his home.
Joe Quinn, 89, from Meelick, Co Clare, fell next to a fire on Friday evening.
His son Seamus, aged in his 40s, was also burned in the incident as he came to his father’s aid.
One neighbour reported hearing a scream.
After he was stabilised by paramedics the musician was airlifted to Cork University Hospital.
Cathal Crowe, a local Fianna Fail councillor and family friend, said: “My thoughts and prayers are with Joe’s wife Alice and their children. It’s a very traumatic time”
Gardai are treated Mr Quinn’s death as a tragic accident.
