Ireland gave equal rights to everyone ...forgotten fathers have been denied

Dad Matt referendum call

modation or homelessness, itself a risk factor.

Dads who have been separated from their kids face an elevated risk of alcoholism and depression as they are excluded from families and homes with scandalously little or no support from the State or Matt O’connor and his sons charities. They have literally been left for dead.

Worse still, fathers are not recognised in the Constitution, and they are increasingly demonised by politicians as feckless “deadbeats” for cheap political capital. Even the Citizens’ cracks in Ireland’s macho veneer.

That’s why Fathers4justice is backing calls for a referendum on their rights, asking the Irish people whether dads should have the same parenting rights as mothers.

It’s especially relevant now in a changing landscape where women are railing against the constitutional declaration that their place is in the home.

Surely women cannot be equal in the workplace until men are equal in the home?

So let’s celebrate our wonderful, loving dads, end the living bereavement of so many fathers, and ensure this injustice is stopped before it causes irreparable harm to our children and families.

Parental equality isn’t only the right thing to do, it will create a stronger, healthier, happier Ireland for everyone.

It is time for a referendum on fathers’ rights.
