Bomb kills 25 to end selfie ceasefire joy

A CAR bomb has killed at least 25 people, shattering a surprise ceasefire that saw Taliban fighters hugging Afghan soldiers.

At least 54 were hurt in the blast in the city of Nangarhar, with Taliban members and residents among the victims.

The Islamic State group said it was responsible.

The halt to fighting in Afghanistan was to mark the Eid festival that ends Ramadan. Troops and rebels were seen taking selfies with each other.

It overlapped with a government ceasefire that lasts until Wednesday.

Militants had entered Kabul, leaving their weapons at the city gates.
