‘Hit-and-run’ victim dies

A MAN was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in the early hours of yesterday.

The victim, in his 20s, was walking on the N4 at Deerpark near Newtownforbes, Co Longford, at around 11.45pm when he was struck by the vehicle.

It failed to stop and continued in the direction of Newtownforbes. The man was pronounced dead at Midlands Regional Hospital.
