Game

- ★★★ DAVID RAVEN

Vampyr Xbox One/ps4/windows Dr Jonathan Reid wakes up a vampire in war-torn London that is suffering from a bizarre flu epidemic. What takes precedence – his medical profession or thirst for blood?

You can help communities by completing quests and treating illnesses. The healthier the citizen, the more XP they will offer for you to upgrade your supernatural abilities. As long as you don’t mind killing them.

Doing so has severe consequences for the game’s world but the game will be more difficult if you’re a vegetarian vampire. It’s an interesting hook and a different take on choice of play – good/ evil dynamic. The story is intriguing and RPG elements like upgrading skills and weapons plentiful, but the combat is clunky. Its clumsiness gets in the way of the good work done by the world building. It’s not intuitive or that fun. Vampyr may

TREAT have just enough for RPG fans to sink their teeth into but it doesn’t really quench the thirst.
