Rock legend Vinnie Paul dies aged 54
PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul has died at the age of 54.
A statement on the band’s social media accounts said: “Vincent Paul Abbott aka Vinnie Paul has passed away.
“Paul is best known for his work as the drummer in the bands Pantera and Hellyeah.”
Texas-born Vinnie co-founded the heavy metal band in the 1980s along with his late brother “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.
The cause of his death is currently unknown.
The band was nominated for Grammys in 1995 and 2001.
In 2003, Pantera broke up amid rumours of a rift between band members.
Vinnie and Darrell went on to form Damageplan.
