Cyclist found by pals lying in ditch dies
Limerick GARDAI are investigating the death of a cyclist who was found lying in a ditch yesterday.
It’s understood the man in his 50s was part of a group travelling along the R458 in Co Clare, on the old N18 Ennis to Galway road.
The man’s friends had returned to find him when they noticed he wasn’t with the party. They discovered him lying in a ditch about two kilometres north of Crusheen.
Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead on arrival at University Hospital Limerick.
A section of the road was closed to facilitate a technical examination and a spokesman said the death will be probed. Jack Walsh
