Bloom or bust this summer

Flower power for retro stylings

-

BLOOMING marvellous... retro florals are at the forefront this summer leading the charge of the season’s prettiest trends. Summer just wouldn’t be the same without wall to wall blooms on the catwalks and in the high street with the perennial favourite making its way into our wardrobes every year.

But for SS18, the trend has been given a zany vintage twist with many designers been inspired by granny’s sofa and great auntie’s wallpaper - and we love it!

The latest floral incarnation looks to the 60s and 70s as seen at Gucci’s eccentric floral over-load who paired bold blooms with other loud patterns.

Dolce & Gabbana showcased roses on dark backgrounds combined with swirling geometric prints.

Marc Jacobs sent models down the runway wearing psychedelic floral dresses and coordinating headscarves. The throwback trend continued at Emilia Wickstead in the form of fairytale silhouettes, while Chloe and Loewe embraced the sweetest Liberty prints and ditsy florals.

Celebrity favourite designer Richard Quinn, a master of ravishing blooms, has given fans a chance to own a piece of his art by teaming up with Debenhams for a gorgeous new range.

The collection is filled with his signature floral prints and voluminous silhouettes.

Have your own Amal Clooney at the 2018 Met Ball moment in the stunning redcarpet worthy strapless, floral evening gown with a train, €160.

There are plenty of styles and prints to choose from on the high street, with many pieces now on sale.

We love Asos’ retro pleated maxi dress, a steal at just €55.99, while Topshop and Zara both have great daytime options.
