Tributes as Pantera’s Vinnie dies

Vinnie Paul STARS have paid tribute to Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul, who has died at 54.

The US heavy metal band announced his death on Twitter but gave no details about how he died.

Billy Idol was among those paying tribute, writing: “Great guy...rip.”

KISS star Paul Stanley wrote: “Loved when Pantera did shows with us.”

Guitarist Slash wrote: “Tragic news... A truly good and fun friend. RIP buddy.” Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine wrote: “Another metal hero taken too soon.”

Paul formed Pantera with his brother Dimebag Darrell in 1981.

They had huge success with 90s albums Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven.

Dimebag was killed on stage by a gunman in 2004. Ban lifted
