Experts say the colour cyan, a greenblue shade, could be a hidden factor in encouragin­g or preventing sleep. University of Manchester researcher­s say higher levels of the colour keep people awake, whereas lower levels aid sleep. The results were found by measuring the level of melatonin, the sleep hormone, in people’s saliva. Researcher­s say “night modes” for phones and other devices could increase or decrease the levels of the colour.

The UK could have its first womb transplant this year. Womb Transplant UK hope the pioneering medical technique will be completed by the end of 2018, with 6,000 women in this country reportedly born without the organ. The first successful birth following a womb transplant took place in Sweden in 2014.

Taking five hot baths a week could reduce your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Experts in Japan say long soaks five times a week shift blood flow from the legs and abdomen to the heart and reduce blood pressure. Hot water bathing, they say, is a good alternativ­e to having a sauna, which is also believed to provide cardiovasc­ular benefits.
