Sandro price makes Jose go for Gaya

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

MANCHESTER UNITED are switching sights to Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya after being priced out of a move for Juventus’ Alex Sandro.

Boss Jose Mourinho had identified Brazilian Sandro as a top target.

But Juve’s £50million demands have been deemed too steep.

That has opened the door for Paris Saintgermain to make a move and caused Mourinho to look to another long-term target in Gaya.

The 23-year-old (above) is rated at closer to £30m after signing a new contract at Valencia, where he came through the ranks, only last month.

Ashley Young played at left-back for United for much of last season, but he is 32 and Mourinho knows the England World Cup star has a limited number of years left in the tank.

Doubts also remain over Luke Shaw’s future.
