AJ’S fight to be seen as a boxer in US
WORLD heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua says no one in America recognises him – and they think he is a basketball star.
AJ is lining up a €225million superfight with American Deontay Wilder this year. But he says the Yanks are clueless.
Anthony, 28, said: “They think I am a basket-baller or play NFL. Sometimes I play along to it, you know.”
Joshua, from Watford, said he is considering increasing his reach in the US by competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Conor Mcgregor and Floyd Mayweather made more than €79million each for their bout last year.
He said: “It’s not just about the money. This is a serious sport, concussions in the head, broken ribs.”
