Virgin stops flying illegal immigrants
VIRGIN airlines has revealed it will no longer help the UK Government deport people in the wake of the Windrush scandal.
It follows LGBT activists saying its policy was at odds with its sponsorship of next week’s Pride march.
A Virgin spokesman said: “We have already informed the Home Office.
“We believe this decision is in the best interest of our customers and people.”
It emerged this year that Commonwealth citizens who came to the UK before 1973 and were entitled to stay had been threatened with deportation.
Virgin provided seats to detainees and security staff accompanying them.
A spokesman for the British Home Office said: “We do not comment on operational matters.”
