Bob’s a ‘text maniac’ says mate Midge
Bob & Midge BAND Aid aid star Midge Ure says he can hardly understand messages from Sir Bob Geldof because they are in “youth text”.
The Ultravox star, 64, said: “He does this abbreviated thing that I can’t read.
“I sit there trying to decipher what it is he’s trying to say. There’s three letters in every word and it’s all x’s and you think: ‘What the hell is this?’ “It’s all in youth text.” Midge doesn’t see 66-year-old Bob that much in person but it doesn’t affect their friendship.
He adds: “When we do meet, we instantly pick up from where we left off.”
He is on TV next week co-hosting BBC Four’s Smashing Hits! The 80s Pop Map of Britain & Ireland, with fellow 80s singer Kim Appleby, 56.
