FELLAINI: ROMELU ALWAYS PUTS TEAM FIRST

- BY STEVE BATES

MAROUANE FELLAINI insists Romelu Lukaku is the ultimate team player – and will go headto-head with Harry Kane for the Golden Boot.

Despite being hungry for goals like any striker, Manchester United star Lukaku always puts his Belgium team-mates first.

And that’s why Fellaini (right), fresh from signing a new threeyear contract to stay at Old Trafford, believes Lukaku is worth his weight in gold to any side.

Lukaku and England skipper Harry Kane have made a spectacular start to the tournament, scoring four and five respectively in two group games. But midfielder Fellaini says there’s much more to Lukaku’s game than goals. “Everyone is talking about the goals Romelu and Harry Kane have scored in Russia and they have both made a great start,” he said. “With Kane, England have a striker who can score goals at the top level and we have all seen already what he can do. Let’s see who can score the most!

“We have Romelu and he is in great form too, scoring goals and getting better. He is like Kane – he wants to score goals every time he goes on the pitch. But he also helps the team with the way he plays, just like at United. He gives everything for the team and puts it first.”

Fellaini (left) came out on top against England’s midfield in Kaliningrad as Belgium won 1-0 to claim top spot in the group.

“It was a great result for us against England,” he said. “It was a good test – but now the real test is coming, so we will see.”
