LIVERPOOL SEAN’S OUT OF COMA
Irish dad, 53, awake three months after attack by Roma thugs
LIVERPOOL fan Sean Cox has regained consciousness – three months after being attacked outside Anfield.
The 53-year-old, from Co Meath, suffered serious head injuries in the savage assault by Roma fans. He was left in a critical condition and his family have kept a bedside vigil since the dad of three was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for round-the-clock care. A statement said: “Sean has regained consciousness and is undergoing dedicated rehabilitation
and recovery is progressing positively but very slowly.
“His colleagues in Precision Cables are overwhelmed by the support and good wishes for Sean and his family that they receive on a daily basis.
“They would like once again to ask that you keep him in your prayers and that he will continue on his road to recovery.”
The statement was made by electrical industry website Electric.ie.
FAMILY
Well-wishers from around the world have banded together to raise over €90,000 for Sean’s medical costs with his family previously saying they were left “overwhelmed and humbled” by the support.
The good news also spread quickly on social media, with Reds fans wishing the Dunboyne man well.
Sean was attacked an incident before Liverpool’s Champions League semifinal against AS Roma on April 24.
He was airlifted from Liverpool’s Walton Centre at the end of May for treatment at Beaumont.
