I own, what I am told is, a UK first edition copy of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. It is in good condition – hardly read, I would say. As a first edition, is it worth much? Michael Burn, Norwich, Norfolk The true first issue of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was published in New York by Alfred A. Knopf in 1964 and originally cost $3.95. Today it would sell for anywhere from €2,000 to €5,000 if in good shape. The more common UK first edition/first impression like yours is worth around €250 in good condition. It was published by George Allen & Unwin Ltd.
