I saw brother stealing

I was in one of our local shops recently and saw my own brother shoplifting. I was stunned. Our mum would go mad if she knew. What should I do?

He is doing wrong and needs to be told so. Talk to him yourself. Tell him how near he was to being reported to the police - perhaps even threaten that you will do so yourself if you ever witness it again. Remind him of the shame and anguish it would mean to your mother to know. And then try to find out why he does it. He needs to be forced to talk things through – and then maybe you can all help him. He’s lucky you saw him at this (hopefully) early stage.
