In dangerous hands Leopold in Victoria and the Duke of Windsor in The Crown, plays GP Dr Tim Finch.

The Vicar of Dibley’s James Fleet plays homeless man Chris Lowe who has mental health issues.

Striking Out’s Neil Morrissey, DCI Cassie Stuart with DI Sunny Khan perhaps better known as one half of Men Behaving Badly, takes on the role of unsuccessful businessman Pete Carr. Designated Survivor’s Kevin Mcnally plays James Hollis, a media personality with his own quiz show. The four are all under the spotlight after the body of a teenage girl who went missing at the turn of the millennium is found at a building site off the M1. It’s up to Cassie and Sunny to find out whether any of the men, described as “old school pals who stick together through thick and thin”, had anything to do with it. The six-part crime drama unravels the past and shows that appearances can often be deceiving as relationships within the close-knit group are tested to the limit.

The actors spoke about the tough storylines and admitted playing such dark scenes takes its toll. Nicola said: “There is a deep sadness running through these stories. And when you’re doing stuff that’s really dark you can stay in that place.” In an interview with Radio Times Sanjeev adds: “There are scenes in Unforgotten that are so intense, horrible and tragic that you have to find a way to relate to each other as human beings again.”

Unforgotten is on ITV at 9pm tonight.
