Prince of walls
Official picture of George aged five
With Wills, Kate, Louis and Charlotte
The smartly dressed youngster beamed as he was photographed at Clarence House, home of grandad Charles, Prince of Wales.
His official birthday snap was taken shortly after his brother Louis was christened, and by the same photographer who covered the event earlier this month.
George will enjoy private celebrations, with mum and dad Kate and Prince William keeping the plans under wraps this time.
Last year the young royal spent the run-up to his big day on an official tour of Poland and Germany, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and his younger sister Charlotte.
ENGAGEMENTS
During the trip the prince, who loves flying, was spotted grinning from ear to ear as he got to sit at the controls of a helicopter.
George has been on several royal engagements already. His first was a tour of Australia and New Zealand with his parents in 2014.
Two years later he was joined by Charlotte, born in 2015, for the Cambridges’ tour of Canada – their first as a family of four.
Prince George’s fifth birthday is also being marked by the launch of a £5 coin.
It follows a series of special coins released by The Royal Mint in recent years, with sovereigns issued to mark the young royal’s first two birthdays, and another to commemorate his christening.
The Royal Mint also gave out “lucky” silver pennies to other babies born on July 22, 2013.
