From Slumdog to Dev-id Copperfield
Alarm at pupils falling asleep
SLUMDOG Millionaire actor Dev Patel swaps hard times for the lead in new Dickens movie The Personal History of David Copperfield.
Comic Paul Whitehouse was also on set in Norfolk, so we have great expectations. ONE IN 10 children has fallen asleep at school in the past year, a survey reveals.
The poll of 2,200 parents found the five to 12-year-olds mainly nod off because they don’t get enough sleep at night.
A third blamed warmer, lighter evenings for kids being unable to sleep.
A fifth said their children wake up too early and a similar number said kids are “exhausted” by after-school clubs.
Twelve per cent of the parents quizzed by Families Online said they had kept their children off school so their little one could have a lie in.
Half of parents said their kids looked “knackered” at least three times a week.
