Allitt victim still in fear of murdering nurse

- BY DAN WARBURTON

A MAN whose daughter was targeted by Beverley Allitt has told of their ongoing torment as the killer nurse battles suspected sepsis in hospital.

“Angel of Death” Allitt carried out attacks including insulin overdoses on 13 babies in 1991, killing four.

She was rushed from Rampton highsecurity hospital to Bassetlaw hospital in Worksop, Notts, in a serious condi- tion last week. Kayley Asher was 15 months old when Allitt attacked her and suffered brain injuries.

Now 28 and also with mild learning difficulties and Kabuki Makeup Syndrome, she needs psychiatric medication for fears Allitt will strike again.

Dad Alan, 61, said: “When I was told she was ill I could only think she may now know the pain suffered by her victims. While we’ve fought to get the right care, Allitt will be given the best treatment and be pampered. She’s been a burden on the taxpayer for years.

“Kayley has been terrified. She looks under the bed before she goes to sleep and is scared Allitt will attack again.”

Allit, 49, was held indefinitely over four murders and other attacks at Grantham and Kesteven Hospital, Lincolnshire. Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust would not comment.
