Talk TV Les Miserables HEROES OF THE WEEK will cheer up BBC viewers
THE BBC revealed details of its autumn schedule earlier this week and its upcoming adaptation of Victor Hugo’s
has caught people’s attention. The six-part adaptation has been written by Andrew Davies, who also penned the recent version of Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace, and BBC bosses promise to do justice to the “spectacular and authentic imagery and, above all, the incredible yet accessible story that was Hugo’s lifework”. The stellar line-up for the screen drama includes Dominic West as Jean Valjean. His nemesis Javert is played by David Oyelowo and Lily Collins, inset, plays Fantine and the brilliant Olivia Coleman plays opposite Adeel Akhtar as Mrs and Mr Thenardier. THOSE who took part in the RTE documentary
on Tuesday night should be saluted for their bravery and honesty. They and their families opened up about living with neurological disorders including Alzheimer’s, Motor Neurone Disease, epilepsy and Parkinson’s Disease. Viewers were moved by the heart-breaking programme which helped shine a light on a variety of conditions affecting over 70,000 people in Ireland. It’s on RTE Player if you missed it.
