Historic changing of guard

A CEREMONIAL changing of the guard took place yesterday at the National Memorial to soldiers who died serving Ireland.

Crowds gathered at Merrion Square in Dublin for the ceremony which included playing the Last Post and Reveille and raising the Tricolour.

The memorial was unveiled by President Mary Mcaleese in 2008 and honours members of the Defence Forces who died serving the country.
