Special One Jose’s becoming The Miserable One... and that will worry his United bosses

-

treated by some United fans who moaned about a lack of entertainment. He led the club to second place a season after winning a couple of cups – the EFL Cup and Europa League. Although the expectation and demands at United are huge, finishing second to Manchester City isn’t a bad achievement. I think many United supporters have been spoiled in the past, in terms of success, and can’t stomach the fact that other clubs have caught them up, while City have actually surpassed them.

Also, during the Sir Alex Ferguson era, United were renowned as a fast-moving side able to attack on both wings and were easy on the eye. But football has changed. Teams have learned how to combat this and so United have been forced to play another way and, maybe at times, have abandoned their principles.

It appears that in certain quarters Jose is getting the blame for this, with his style of football not going down well.

In the past, the fans have been used to watching fast, entertaining sides, who inspired them.

That’s not Manchester United any more.

They are having to play a different way to get results, which is the DNA of Mourinho.

It makes for a sad scenario all round – not helped by Mourinho’s bleatings out in America, with the start of the new Premier League campaign less than a fortnight away.
