Burqa woman fined €133 in new law first

-

A WOMAN in Denmark became the first person to be charged under the country’s new burqa laws.

The incident happened in Copenhagen when police came to the scene of a row between two females, one of whom was wearing the face covering.

It was alleged one of the women tried to pull off the other’s veil and it was later confirmed this action happened as part of the quarrel.

The woman was fined €133 for refusing to remove her veil.

Human rights groups have slammed the legislation, calling it discriminative on grounds of cultural autonomy.
