FIRES on an Irish mountain have exposed an amazing World War 2 message.

“EIRE 8” had been completely covered by the gorse on Bray Head in Wicklow and has been there for more than 70 years.

Michael Kennedy of Guarding Neutral Ireland said: “The signs were built by the Coast Watching Service by the summer of 1944 to warn ‘belligeren­t’ aircraft that they were flying over a neutral country.”
