Friday July 27 Midwife Samantha Eastwood is seen leaving the Royal Stoke University Hospital at 7.45am after a night shift. Colleagues call in police after she fails to turn up later for shift that evening. Her car is still at home, with keys and bank cards. July 28 Police search her home and issue a plea to help find her. July 29 A man aged 32 is arrested on suspicion of kidnap. July 30 Suspect is released on conditiona­l bail. July 31 Police release CCTV of Samantha leaving work on Friday. August 1 It is revealed at a press conference that Samantha had been planning a wedding for June but was “recently single”. August 2 Police say a scream was heard by a neighbour at her home at 2pm on the day she went missing. NHS England joins appeal. August 3 Sister Gemma makes emotional plea as police seek dashcam footage from motorists. August 4 Police reveal they have cordoned off land in Caverswall and “taken control” of a house. They later confirm they have discovered a body. Detectives re-arrest a man of 32 on suspicion of murder and two others, 28 and 60, on suspicion of assisting an offender.
