Get the coat at the ready ... the rain is set to return

- BY EMMA MCMENAMY

Wet weather PUT the suncream away and take out the raincoats as heavy rain is due to hit the country this weekend.

Ireland will be met with fresh conditions, fog and heavy bursts of rain in the coming days, Met Eireann has predicted.

However, the sun is not completely disappearing and will make the odd appearance over the next few days.

A forecaster said: “Sunday will be a humid day with bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy in the afternoon.

“They’ll gradually die out through the evening. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees with light breezes.

“The first few days of next week will see cool and mostly cloudy weather in the north and north west, with occasional rain and temperatures between 15-18 degrees.”

On Monday the sunshine is expected to return with the odd bit of rain.

Met Eireann added: “Monday will be a largely dry day with sunny spells, a bit cloudier in the west with patchy drizzle.

“Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds. Monday night will be dry in most areas but outbreaks of light rain will affect the west and north.”
