Lifesaver net hailed in fight with malaria
A BED net that kills insecticide-resistant mosquitoes could save millions from malaria scientists have revealed.
A two-year clinical trial showed dousing the fabric with a combination of chemicals resulted in a 12% reduction in clinical cases compared with conventional nets.
The findings are a “big step forward” in the fight against the deadly disease in Africa, which is home to 91% of all malarial deaths worldwide.
Professor Steve Lindsay of Durham University said: “This is simply a good news story and one to give us hope for the future.”
