Galway 3-13 Meath 2-9 All-ireland MFC semi-final

A THREE-GOAL blast in the space of just six second-half minutes propelled Galway through to their second All-ireland minor final in three seasons.

The Connacht champions trailed by five points when Eoghan Tinney, Oisin Mccormack and Tony Gill struck rapid fired goals to turn the game on its head.

The three majors came between the 40th and 46th minutes and left a resurgent Galway three points clear.

They had seven to spare at full-time and are through to a September 2 final clash with Kerry or Monaghan who meet today at Croker.

Man of the Match Aidan Halloran also weighed in with three points from centre-forward as Galway turned on the style.

It’ll be their second final in three seasons having lost to Kerry in 2016 and they will push for a first title since 2007.

Boss Donal O Fatharta said he wasn’t worried despite trailing a fancied Meath side by four points at half-time.

O Fatharta said: “I thought we played well overall to be honest. In the first-half we created the chances but just didn’t take them. So even though we were four points down I felt we were well in the game.

“Now I didn’t expect us to come out and do what we did of course but we did expect to create a lot of chances, which we did.”
