TV Selina: I had chance to be a spy
FORMER TV newsreader Selina Scott was invited to become one of Britain’s spooks.
The 67-year-old says she was approached to apply for a job with MI5 when she was a university student.
She said: “I politely declined the offer. Only years later did I realise how extraordinary it was.”
Selina will reveal more details when she speaks later this week at the Edinburgh Television Festival.
She said the invitation came during a “very British” tea and biscuits meeting.
Selina, who was at the University of East Anglia, added: “I would go to work for them after I graduated.
“God knows what would have happened to me if I had said yes.”
