Glenn Close: My 15yrs hell in weird cult
Glenn Close GLENN Close has told of her “devastating” childhood in a religious cult.
The actress, 71, was seven when her parents joined it and didn’t break away until she was 22.
They were part of the spiritual movement Moral Re-armament, founded by evangelical US minister Frank Buchman in 1938.
Glenn, who was sent to live in his Swiss HQ with her siblings, said: “It was devastating to a child because it meant that at a time when you’re trying to figure out who you are, you’re being told instead who you’re supposed to be.
“You weren’t allowed to do anything, or you were made to feel guilty about any unnatural desire.
“By the time I was able to break away, I didn’t trust any of my instincts.” John
