DUO’S HIGH FIVE IN PERTH

-

GORDON ELLIOTT and Richard Johnson teamed up to claim a 98-1 five-timer at Perth yesterday.

The Irish handler (right) is a regular visitor to the Scottish circuit and along with the champion jockey, he enjoyed another excellent day at the office.

Make My Heart Fly (4-1) got the afternoon off to a flyer with a 16-length romp in the first division of the three-mile handicap hurdle.

The Cullentra handler and Johnson also landed the second division with King’s Song (13-8), while Galvin justified 1-4 favouritism in the two-mile maiden hurdle in between.

Cubomania (11-4) ensured Elliott and Johnson won the first four races of the day with victory in the novices’ handicap chase, but they suffered their first reverse after High Expectations was narrowly beaten in the following two-mile handicap hurdle.

Anytime Now was third as the 7-4 favourite for the two-and-a-half-mile handicap hurdle before Carrie Des Champs (8-13 favourite) ensured the team ended the day with a winner after sauntering clear in the concluding mares’ bumper.
