HODGSON: EXPECTATIO­NS

ROY HODGSON has warned Mo Salah that he will have to deal with great expectatio­ns this season.

But the former Liverpool boss, whose Crystal Palace side host Salah and Co in south London tomorrow night, reckons the Egyptian emerald has the ability to cope with all of them. Salah scored 46 goals last season — 32 of them in the Premier League, including one at Selhurst Park.

He opened his account for this season in the Reds’ 4-0 romp against West Ham last weekend and Liverpool fans are praying he can go close to matching last term’s goalscorin­g feats. Asked how difficult it is to maintain those standards for a second year, Hodgson said: “Well, that’s not easy. But his positional play is good, he’s a hard worker and he doesn’t get pinned down easily because he moves around the field and knows what he is doing and he has very good technical ability. So there’s no doubt that he will be good this season as well because of the qualities he possesses.
